#26 Pencils - 11
It’s 1am and I’m running on 4 hours of sleep. i wouldn’t have been able to finish the inking so instead of trying to rush the inks, I thought I’d show you the pencils first. This is the beginning ofthe whole fight scene, I’ve choreographed it to it’s end, but will be willing to take any suggestions on what to throw into the fight scene.Â
The caption I had for these strips go something like this:
“Perfect form, for a class”
“Unfortunatly this is not a class exercise”
It needs some polish so you’re suggestions are more than welcome=)
Notes:
Â
- I normally pencil very loosely and decide on many details in inking. Today’s pencils are tighter than usaual, maybe this will be the new usual
- Andrik’s left hand needs some work in the charging panel, so i’ll do some sketches of that before inking
- Sleeping on the pencils allows me to bring more quality to the artwork the next day.
Your comments are more precious than you can ever imagine!

As someone who’s just getting into drawing & webcomics, it’s fascinating to be able to see you sketches. I like the perspective in the 2nd frame. It has a real sense of movement & action.

@ DJ thank you sir, actually these are not the sketches but the ‘finished’ pencils. Before this I did sketches and before that, thumbnails.
but in the very last minute I changed it up by adding the second panel. Cant wait to ink it!

Action! Drama! I’m really liking the dynamic pose in the first panel, and the gesturing goblin in the second.

I really like the action in the second panel, particularly. The arc of the swing and the twisting of his body is great.

So much movement! My work is stationary… Great energy.

Great poses! I especially like the second panel.

So when you say inking are you using physical ink or a tablet/Cintiq?

crow, i use real ink..the wet kind..

Or the dry kind that you make wet (if you’ve ever tried sumi ink sticks)!
I’ve used sumi ink in a bottle and india ink, brush and steel pen, and pigment pens. My current fav out of them is a combination of PITT pens and the TOMBOW pen/brush combo. They work very well, are archival quality, and avoid the cleanup of bottled ink. The TOMBOW brush is surprisingly nice – let’s you lay down a nice bold line.
One short comment. I noticed that you have a link to my site (thanks – it’s much appreciated) but it’s labeled as Nicky501 instead of Nicky510.
Best,
Crow
