It all started when Kleefeld started a discussion on his blog about why comics don’t work on the iphone. His reason was space and the time it takes to navigate the screens.

Here are my thoughts.

1. All comics currently available on the iphone are made fore other media and have been chopped up to fit. sometimes it works sometimes not so.
2. I think if creators could team up with developers some inovative solutions can be found to solve the problems of comics on an iphone.
3. One valid soloution I think is to make use of the iPhones motion sensors so that you can tilt the device to make the comic scroll back or forward at different sppeds depending on the angle of the tilt.
4. That way comic panels don’t have to fit an iphone screen but could actually be as long as you like.. an infinate canvas. I believe this would be a beautiful soloution.

Mac Rat Love

My comic is sorta-kinda on hiatus but not really, I’ve just been too lazy to update lately. But it’s called MacRatLove, and it’s an awkward, geeky glimpse at life as an art student.

The North Side

It features a webcomic by me titled Squires of Dimness. http://www.north-side.net/?cat=5
The characters are LOOSELY based on the 2005 lineup of Nine Inch Nails but are have evolved into original characters that just have subtle likenesses of the guys they’re based on. The “plots” are written in a way where anyone – fan of the band or not can enjoy them. I keep them innocent, ridiculous, and most importantly, hilarious (at least I try to?).

So if you despise coconut ice cream, are attached to certain pieces of clothing, or a huge sudoku fan, you might relate to a few of the characters .

Orcusville

Orcusville is aimed at tabletop gamer nerds primarily (but the humour can also cover all sorts of stuff like heavy metal, movies and comic books). The art is all clip art me and the co-creator (Josh Wagner)had done. Anyhow, it can be found at http://www.orcusville.com .

I know, I know, it’s just a lousy Flickr collection, but I am no good at setting up website. The Flickr collection is mostly stuff I drew a few years ago to entertain my colleagues in the office. Mini Comic Con, Is a webcomics convention that happens ever 3 weeks on this blog. It can be what ever you want it to be, but let me get the ball rolling with some suggestions on what YOU can do.

• If you have a webcomic, you’re welcome to post a link in the comments to your comic, as well as introduce yourself, and your comic. There’s so much good stuff out there, help us find you!
• If you don’t have a webcomic, maybe you would like to share a link to one of your favourites, and tell us what you love about that!

The Best compliment I’ve got on Fantasy Story is ”Draw Faster!” . It’s also the most frequent. And as much as I would love to oblige. I cannot draw any faster. Besides, there are other things that go into the making of a strip, which have nothing to do with drawing. Writing the plot and dialogue, lettering, scanning, layouts, and a process most artist know, (and love) ’sit and stare’ time. At the moment, this strip takes up all my spare time (and a little bit extra)

While I cannot draw any faster. It is important to me to post consistantly, so I’ve developed this schedule. 

For 2 weeks: comics strips are posted on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  

On the 3rd week:  I will still post on Monday’s, Wednesdays and Fridays. But  I will post only 1 full colour page on one day, instead of the usual 3 strips.  (a Sunday Styled Comic), on the other two days I will post 2 comic related features:

• “Mini Comic Con” – A community based offering, highlighting points of interest in the webcomic world. As well as interaction with readers and other creators.
• “LOTJ” Learning on the Job: This is where I’ll share something i’ve learnt about making webcomics. It will serve as a reminder to myself. And hopefully a resource to others.

(This 6+1 Cycle, mirrors a newspaper’s publishing schedule. And if Fantasy Story is ever picked up for newspaper syndication, it will be good to go:) )

No Pink Ponies  is the first webcomic that I’ve read from start to finish, It’s about a hot chick and her geek friends and is set in a comic shop:)

Atland is a nicely drawn and coloured fantasy story about… a dead prince or something. I wish it was drawn faster ;p

Psychedelic Treehouse is a complete resource for the webcomic artist. 

Fantasy Story was recently interviewed by Eben07 who also has a comic that’ is the kind of funny that makes you pause before laughing.
